Review of My First Job

My voice may not be a talent to showcase (or is it?) but was it really a ‘skill in disguise’ as I claimed on a previous post? Well I guess I have to scan back a year plus off my professional life.  On to BPO – Business Process Outsourcing, I jumped in, well aware that it was nowhere near my specialization in graduation. Fresh off the 2014 batch of ‘Electrical Engineers’ form the University of Calicut, and having lost an opportunity to work at an MNC, I was rather desperate to somehow get hooked up for something that I could showcase as ‘job’ for the peering eyes around me.
Desperate for another Job? Don’t! You might end up hands tied by unreasonable contracts. There is absolutely no need. And you really don’t have to prove anything to any ‘peering eyes’ but yourself.

Invisible Memory-Chest Openers

https://www.facebook.com/AmbiPurIndia

Most of us rely on our sense of sight, to such an extent that we’ve taken the sense of smell for granted. People wonder – “How difficult it might have been, to live blind, deaf or dumb?” As though our sense of smell would forever be intact.  Allow me to remind you that “the sense of smell gradually diminishes roughly on yearly basis starting from childhood” and unlike the sense of vision or sound which can be restored using hearing aids, glasses etc. There is nothing that could possibly be done to restore it for it is the smell receptors in the brain that gradually diminish in quantity and quality as we age.

The sense of smell helps children to spot food, arouses lust in adults and is equally capable to shut it. Not to mention the fact that sometimes it’s the deference in the smell that seems to alter the ‘flavor’ (crazy but true). For some animals, the sense of smell is equivalent to how we value the sense of vision.

Life as a JOKER...

Allow me to be frank. This post is entirely inspired by the JOKER in the movie - The Dark Knight. This isn’t a review of the movie or characters. But I must say the performance of Heath Ledger (as the Joker) was amazing (which is what prompted me to pen this).  The Oscar for the ‘Best Performance in the Role of a Villain’ for that year was achieved by none other than the JOKER of Gotham (the fictional city). Through Heath Ledger, the world saw the face of a sadist than a villain (or are villains sadists?).  The joker was the human form of the abstract pleasure that most people drew from other’s sorrows/pain/suffering.

Soak Not, My Eyes In Tears

“SOAK NO MORE”
I may have heard those words before. But it was when I heard it from Surf Excelvia this contest that I began to seriously revolve around those three words.
“Whew! It means that I will not have to soak my clothes anymore prior to washing.” I thought.

It’s been two years since I started washing clothes on my own. I used to dump them to my mother. Let me take this opportunity to thank her for flawlessly washing my clothes all these years. I never gave a thought about what brand of washing powder/soap she used. I was quite ignorant and was only concerned about having my clothes/uniform ready in time.
Things changed. I joined my college hostel where there no laundry service. I had two choices before me –
1. Wash clothes by myself.
(Or)
2. Carry home a bag full of dirty clothes to my mother every weekend to get them washed altogether. Make sure there is enough air freshener, to keep the aroma of dirty clothes off from the room and that unlucky bag.
On the third day of the first week of my stay in hostel, I washed for the first time. I followed the instructions that mom gave me via phone. Her first point was – “soak them in the colloidal fluid for some time before washing.”

My Weirdest Dream…so far

If this dream ever came true then it would be something unnatural (as for now). I could then by all means proclaim that humans have en inner eye to see the future. The future is already written and we are nothing but passing clouds in it. Yes, this is a dream in which i supposedly had a vision of the future. nothing odd in that coz most of us at some point must have seen dreams which may have got us thinking that it was from a point in the future.(that’s what we’d normally think – if it’s something that has not happened to u earlier then it’s got to be from the future! Where else could it be from?). The weird thing about this dream is that its way more specific than any the dreams I’ve ever had. In it I meet four of my childhood friends in their youth and one of them is introducing me to his wife. I HEARD HIM SAY HER NAME!!! After waking up I immediately wrote it down so that I don’t forget it. Now all I have to do is wait and see if it comes out to be that same name. I don’t want to however disclose any of the names.

The Day I got high…On Top Of the World (and close to the moon)

There is a beautiful song from the band quite familiar to most of you – NICKELBACK. The songs name is ‘Just to get high’(song attached at the bottom of this post.) and it echoed in my mind when I heard that there were plans to ‘drink’ during the class tour. Though it’s a term actually related with drugs I’d simply use it here with reference to alchohol. ‘This is a work of fiction, resemblance to any person, living or dead is purely coincidental.’
This is the story of how I lost my virginity to alcohol.  While reading this the professional alcohol consumers out there may think – ‘Yuk, loser, he has already started it so late and now has writing about it? Jobless fellow…’ so I believe this story is actually intended for the armature, beginners and non alcohol consumers.
Let me take you back to the few days prior to the beginning of the S3 class tour, tour fee was paid and the formal processes were going on in its way. The anticipation was really high as it is a tour that has already been postponed once or twice. We all somehow wanted the big day to come and I bet that none of us were actually paying any attention to the classes 2 days before the tour (and many days worth of classes after the tour).
Fast forward to day 1, (night time) after a long journey we reached the hotel for the night. The boys chose a common dormitory – 2 big rooms with a lot of beds. How did we divide the 2 rooms among us? Simple, a loud command by an armature “those who drink stay in this room and the rest shall take the other room!!” Many guys went to the ‘other room’. Most of my close friends were among them but here I’d like to call them – ‘the others’. I saw their faces as they looked at me while leaving to the other room. There were multiple expressions, some of them were – “Vishnu, r u sure u want to try this?”, “I too want to try it out man, but it’s bad. I might get addicted to It.”; “tell me what it’s like man...” etc. I could easily read their minds because so for all my life I always pretended to be one of them, I simply used to reject the offers made to me but not this time, I didn’t feel guilty or ashamed, I was rather curious and felt adventurous. There is now way I was going to back out. In fact I considered it a research/experiment to get the true answer to many of my queries related to it. (I had asked many armatures and professionals but never got an answer that convinced me, this is something which I had to find out myself.) Some of those doubts (for your information) were:-
1.     Will getting high be like Baiju (the sensational artist who became popular exclusively because of his ability to act like a drunkard.)? I wanted to know if he was overacting.
2.      Will we have any memory of the time?
3.     Does it really boost our courage, confidence and fearlessness?
4.     They say red bull is alcoholic, if yes how much could it contain? (Quantitative analysis between red bull and alcohol.)
5.     How is it different from fagging? And finally,
6.     Will it have any effect on the urges that I feel being teenager as long as it is in my system?
That was the most important question. If this entire effort were called ‘chandrayan’ then the positive answer to this question would be ‘The moon has water!!’ I would never go for it again if it hampered my burning desire to provide my parents with their grandchildren. But what if it enhanced it? Will my reproductive system work normally as I get (to) ‘high’ altitudes and close to the moon where gravity is less?
