10 Professions on the verge of 'AI Disruption'

Note: All links in the post are meant to serve as resources for further reading, or to substantiate what’s mentioned in the content.
Fiction and other popular media has already instilled a sense of eerie anticipation among us about how AI would alter the fate of mankind. As per futurist Ray Kurzweil’s Singularity Theory, development in all verticals (including the overall development of the human race) happens at an exponential rate; as we move forward in time along that exponential graph, the rate of development increases as well. One way to cross verify this postulate is by analyzing the frequency of reported milestones. The last couple of years have witnessed some sharp developments in AI which forecast disruption in jobs.

Review of My First Job

My voice may not be a talent to showcase (or is it?) but was it really a ‘skill in disguise’ as I claimed on a previous post? Well I guess I have to scan back a year plus off my professional life.  On to BPO – Business Process Outsourcing, I jumped in, well aware that it was nowhere near my specialization in graduation. Fresh off the 2014 batch of ‘Electrical Engineers’ form the University of Calicut, and having lost an opportunity to work at an MNC, I was rather desperate to somehow get hooked up for something that I could showcase as ‘job’ for the peering eyes around me.
Desperate for another Job? Don’t! You might end up hands tied by unreasonable contracts. There is absolutely no need. And you really don’t have to prove anything to any ‘peering eyes’ but yourself.

Shopping Scenario 2030 (predictions)

SUPERMARKETS OF 2030
At some point in the future between 2013 and 2030 retail outlets in the city would reach the point of breakdown. There would be mass protests by retailers union against on-line shopping that has spiraled out of control. The best thing for online shopping sites to do would be to come up with a system that integrates local retail outlets with the online shopping sites such that there is a scenario of getting things even while being able to create a more simple yet sophisticated delivery system that could save a lot of time and fuel. Let us hope that by 2030 the transition imbalance would have reached perfect symmetry keeping all parties happy.

Trip to Rip n Sip

The Perfect Road Trip

The perfect road trip according to me would be one that'd fill my heart to such an extent that I wouldn’t mind if I were to R.I.P after that extravagant trip (not during the trip however, never). The surroundings passing by through the window as if I along with those companions with whom my mind most resonates with were surfing through the waves of happiness. We wouldn’t be least bothered about the jam that would be as calm as a morning horizon. The honking horns would be nullified by our conversations carrying the pristine essence of friendship. Yes, a friendship that fills the map like long roads that stretches across terrains of age,sex and ambition. Friendship in its vibrant whole, not necessarily marked by the so called 'normal nature of friendship' but one that binds individuals with true intimacy like that of 'father-son’,’ girlfriend-boyfriend' etc. Along with the     brothers and sisters that God gave through the wombs of other mothers. Such would be the nature of friendship in which our vehicle would be powered by apart from the fuel.

The Ultimate Chat Experience

Note: This post is entirely a work of imagination (at least at the time of writing it – 2013) and is based on the WeChat chat client (which does exist).

The features described here are purely fictional and may seem non-existent for now. But ‘the possibility’ for them to be real does exist too.

PROCRASTINATION???GET THROUGH!!!

Especially Meant for Students
I was here, in your grip
Damn you, let me slip
You’re an emotional cancer
Deadlier that a panzer

You made me so lame
And on me they blamed
My passion, you sucked up
My life, you screwd up

Life as a JOKER...

Allow me to be frank. This post is entirely inspired by the JOKER in the movie - The Dark Knight. This isn’t a review of the movie or characters. But I must say the performance of Heath Ledger (as the Joker) was amazing (which is what prompted me to pen this).  The Oscar for the ‘Best Performance in the Role of a Villain’ for that year was achieved by none other than the JOKER of Gotham (the fictional city). Through Heath Ledger, the world saw the face of a sadist than a villain (or are villains sadists?).  The joker was the human form of the abstract pleasure that most people drew from other’s sorrows/pain/suffering.

Soak Not, My Eyes In Tears

“SOAK NO MORE”
I may have heard those words before. But it was when I heard it from Surf Excelvia this contest that I began to seriously revolve around those three words.
“Whew! It means that I will not have to soak my clothes anymore prior to washing.” I thought.

It’s been two years since I started washing clothes on my own. I used to dump them to my mother. Let me take this opportunity to thank her for flawlessly washing my clothes all these years. I never gave a thought about what brand of washing powder/soap she used. I was quite ignorant and was only concerned about having my clothes/uniform ready in time.
Things changed. I joined my college hostel where there no laundry service. I had two choices before me –
1. Wash clothes by myself.
(Or)
2. Carry home a bag full of dirty clothes to my mother every weekend to get them washed altogether. Make sure there is enough air freshener, to keep the aroma of dirty clothes off from the room and that unlucky bag.
On the third day of the first week of my stay in hostel, I washed for the first time. I followed the instructions that mom gave me via phone. Her first point was – “soak them in the colloidal fluid for some time before washing.”

Love YA Arranged? - A Mental Debate

Please note : none of the images used in this blog post are my creation. They were obtained from various sources.
‘Ya’ means ‘OR’ in Hindi. It’s been used instead of ‘or’ to give it an Indian touch. Brilliant!! Coz the difference in opinions regarding the two types of marriages is found to vary beyond the threshold limit on our very own Indian soil. Here is a post regarding the two types of marriages. I’d like to mention that the conclusion is quite predictable and you probably guessed it right. I’d also like to thank you in advance for choosing to use/waste time for reading this fairly long post.

Prerequisite
Let’s briefly check out some parts of the world…
1. In the west, I guess the importance of the word ‘love marriage’ and ‘arranged marriage’ is quite negligible (probably because of the relative ease of re-marriage.) It’s more like ‘Dating YA Marriage?’ out there.

2. Come to the Middle East and mostly because of a male dominant society, their quote of concern could be ‘One Wife YA Many Wives?’Not to mention the new trend of inter – national marriages (in most cases its Arab husbands for ladies of the east – Philippines, Indonesia, Pakistan and even India). Yet that cannot be entirely deemed as love marriage because to a certain extend it is triggered by the dowry related pressure that the males would have to go through. (In some Arab societies it’s the groom that will have to give dowry...).
3. Coming to the eastern countries we could find some really weird phenomena in marriages that they are featured in National Geographic programs like – Taboo.(Indiantraditions make it into those programs too). In china, as far as I’ve known through reading, people are quite busy and finding a life partner is carried out mostly by marriage clients and websites. I personally don’t think marriage is as interesting for them as it is for us because of their ‘One Child’ policy. The biggest suspense in a married (love ya arranged) life is perhaps – ‘how many kids a couple would raise?’  At the same time we find that the Japanese are quite conservative while other nations like Indonesia, Malaysiaetc. are being greatly influenced by various foreign traditions.

The Most Powerful Tool in Literature

‘This is a work of fiction, resemblance to any person living or dead is purely coincidental.’

That is a sentence which one would find before the start or at the end of most movies. Though it may sound corny it is the one sentence that saves most artists/directors/writers etc. from issues/complaints related to work/identity theft, etc. if the government allowed to impart this line on social networking sites then we could create any fake/duplicate profiles without being sued by the law. Cool right?
